FC Porto

Futebol Clube do Porto was originally founded in 1893, but struggled and folded shortly after its inaugural season. It wasn't until 1906, when Monteiro da Costa sought to unite the local community with the strong English population in Oporto, was the club revived. Over the course of their 100+ year history, they have become Portugal's most successful club internationally (winning 6 international titles), have played in the Portuguese Championship a record 75 times and have the most domestic wins of any club in Portugal (1,333).

Internationally FC Porto was the first club in Portugal to have won the UEFA Supercup (1987) and UEFA Cup (2003). In 1987 and again in 2004 they won the European and World Championship tournaments is the only Portuguese club to hold three major international titles simultaneously. Within Portugal they have won over 50 national titles including the Portuguese Liga 25 times, the Portuguese Cup 17 times and the Portuguese Supercup 15 times.

Since 2004 FC Porto have called Estadio do Dragao their home. The Dragon is what both supporters and players are often called. The dragon can also be found on the FC Porto crest.

Notable players include: Fernando Gomes, Emerson, Deco, Jorge Costa and Joao Pinto.
